Strong Girl Squad: Lifting Confidence, One Rep at a Time

This term, Year 8 girls from Beaumont Academy in Warrington are taking part in something powerful: the Strong Girl Squad (SGS)—a unique program created by Sian Edwards, owner of CrossFit® Warrington, to help girls aged 11–16 discover their strength through weightlifting, movement, and mindset.

Why Strong Girl Squad?

We know that many girls lose interest in sport during their teenage years—often due to confidence issues, lack of support, or the pressure to fit a certain image. Strong Girl Squad is here to change that.

This isn’t just about lifting weights—it's about lifting each other, building confidence, and learning that strength is something to be proud of.

What the Program Includes

💪 Girls-Only Weightlifting Workshops
Our six-week structured program introduces girls to the fundamentals of weightlifting in a safe, fun, and supportive space. It’s tailored for beginners and focused on technique, progression, and body awareness—showing that lifting is for every body.

🧠 Confidence & Well-Being
We believe strength goes beyond the gym floor. Each session incorporates discussions on:

  • Self-esteem
  • Positive body image
  • Healthy habits
  • Nutrition and recovery

All designed to help girls build resilience and feel empowered in and out of sport.

💜 Breaking Barriers
No kit? No problem. We supply sportswear, toiletries, and other essentials so that no one is left out due to financial or material barriers. Every girl deserves a chance to thrive.

The Impact

Since launching, the Strong Girl Squad has already made a huge impact:

  • Girls are learning that being strong is something to celebrate
  • Participants are showing up with more confidence and self-belief
  • Friendships are forming through shared challenge and support

This is more than just a fitness program—it’s a movement of young women redefining what it means to be strong.
