Four Generations Strong

By Sian Edwards, Owner

CFW - Age is just a number

At CrossFit Warrington, we often say we’re more than a gym — we’re a family.

And sometimes, that isn’t just a figure of speech.

This is Carol. She’s 68 years young, full of determination, and proof that strength has no age limit. What makes her story even more special? She trains alongside her daughters, her daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren — all part of the CrossFit Warrington community.

This is what inclusive, generational fitness looks like.

It Started with Family

Carol’s journey began by watching her daughters thrive at CFW. What started as curiosity quickly turned into action. Now, at 68, she shows up, trains hard, and proves that it’s never too late to start.

Carol: “I never imagined I’d be doing this at 68. I thought CrossFit was for young, super-fit people. But I’ve never once felt out of place. The coaches support me, the members encourage me, and I feel stronger every single week.”

Carol doesn’t train to compete. She trains to stay independent, healthy and capable — for herself and for her family.

A Proud Daughter’s Perspective

Julia, one of Carol’s daughters, has been part of CrossFit Warrington for some time. Seeing her mum step onto the gym floor has been incredibly special.

Julia: “Watching Mum train is honestly inspiring. She doesn’t make excuses. She just gets on with it. My kids see their grandma lifting weights and moving confidently — that’s such a powerful example.”

For Julia, CrossFit isn’t just about fitness. It’s about longevity, role modelling and shared experiences.

Strength Across Generations

Kelise, Carol’s other daughter, feels the same.

Kelise: “We always say CrossFit Warrington is our second home, but when your mum and your children are all here too, it really does feel like family. Mum’s confidence has grown so much. She stands taller, moves better, and she’s proud of what she can do.”

And that’s the beauty of what happens inside these walls.

Grandchildren attend CrossFit Kids. Daughters train in adult classes. Carol trains alongside them. Different ages, different abilities — one shared environment.

More Than Exercise

At CrossFit Warrington, we don’t just scale workouts. We scale opportunity.

Carol’s programme looks different to her daughters’. Her grandchildren’s sessions are tailored to their age. But they are all building:

  • Strength
  • Confidence
  • Resilience
  • Community

Together.

Carol is living proof that fitness doesn’t have an expiry date.

Carol: “I feel capable. That’s the biggest thing. I’m not worried about getting older — I’m focused on staying strong.”

This Is What We Mean by Inclusive

From CrossFit Kids to adults in their 60s and beyond, from beginners to experienced athletes — we create space for everyone.

One family.
Four generations.
One community.

If you’ve ever thought, “It’s too late for me,” let Carol be your reminder:

It isn’t.
